:yamini: I right with you Harley! It's different, but I like that! In a tweet, he said the album was RandB or Rock?? Interesting!

I loved what I heard.
Kinda "old school"???
Sort of reminded me of Alright and Cold Heart, which I love.

Nickyey09 - August 1, 2010 02:11 AM (GMT)
I love it too. This is the sound of the Elliott I fell in love with - "The Soul Man".
MY IDOL ELLIOTT - August 1, 2010 08:17 AM (GMT)
HI Yall, Yes Elliott is DA SOUL MAN!!!! The snippet of his new song is incredible! Elliotts voice is in rare form as always!!!! I don't quite know what genre this song is? All I know is its a brilliant beautiful song, but now I want to hear the whole song my brutha Elliott!!!!

I like what I heard too, and also wondering what genre it would go under. I loved his look from the cover of his first CD, not crazy at all for the slicked back look of FFL. Musically , I loved both CD's . With his music being played at the Olympics, and SYTYCD, ( also heard WFY in the supermarket yesterday) There is still hope for this artist to get the recognition he deserves. I'll always be in his corner. :chloestrain: :elliottelliott:

The question is, what radio format is "old school,"?
There's such a vast gaping hole in radio right now for good songs, which don't have an exact "fit" for any one format. I hope someone shakes it up soon.

Me too! It's so frustrating. I have nothing against today's music, really, but I just don't understand the singers with almost no talent becoming so popular. Kind of like Fabian in the late 50's...Couldn't carry a tune but was hugely popular because he was cute. We know that still happens.
Well, I happen to know this guy who is cute and can SING!
I think the main problem is the stranglehold that the big companies have on the radio stations and it's probably pay to play. A lot of independent artists don't have a chance to be promoted and heard. I have no doubt that Elliott would have more hits if this system were not in play. As for 'Wait For You' I think the push at the beginning by Ryan and television exposure propelled it onto the charts. Most people cannot tell you who it was that made the song, at least that has been my experience.

HI Yall, I agree with Rooney 110%, What you say is really true!!!! Now what can we all do about this?

This might be out there, but I've been wondering about college radio.
I know that there is at least one college radio station that plays "Let Love Be," religiously, because they like the song, and that's all, no strings attached.
I know that Billboard follows the top songs played on college radio. It makes me wonder if a push there, that led to lots of spins would get the terrestrial stations owned by big companies to think twice before they pass on an "indie" artist.

Probably by the time kids get to college they are possibly sick of the bubblegum music and ready for something different.....although according to some articles their overwelming choice is 'Rock'.
I think the biggest hurdle is just getting the exposure. Elliott has a little bit of everything. How I loved "I'll Make You Dance"! I definitely think that would have been a hit if it could have been heard. It's the one song my 15 yr old put on her ipod.

i LOVE "I'll make you dance"
When E's cd was released, we had a cd release party at work, which included a dance contest. The song? i'LL MAKE YOU DANCE". Everyone loved it, and a bunch of people got up and danced to it.
Here he is at Regis and Kelly the day of the release

And here's a few of the dance contest

I love playing 'I'll Make You Dance' really loud but unfortunately I have developed a sensitivity to certain low register noise and bass is one of them. I hate it when I get in the car and have to turn Elliott down. I probably won't be able to go to a live concert any more unless I use ear plugs. Another downer. lol
OK, were these two events on the same day? So I'm betting you went to the show that morning and the party was in the afternoon. Chloe, I must say, you certainly squeeze as much living into your life as is possible, at least it seems that way. I envy you for that. And also, is the person who won the contest in these photos? LOL at the cds hanging from the ceiling!

HI Yall, You know we do anything for our Funky White Boy Elliott! We fly here, we fly there for Elliott. I've driven 2 hrs just to see DA Soul Man Elliott! I even flew from Norcal to Nashville, Tenn. to see Elliott. I would say thats total crazy dedication!!!! I think I would sacrifice anything just for Elliott! I idolize DA MAN that will be KING!!!! He has the best voice in todays music! He can sing anything, anywhere, anytime! I don't care if it's his first time singin the song he can sing it like YAMIN it!!!! I would say Elliott will challenge anyone to a sing off with any song! We all know who would win?

lol, 3-20-07 we spent the entire day in the city, beginning at regis and kelly, then to lunch with a bunch of e-trainers,then on to virgin records, for the cd signing. we spent hours there, hanging out in the cafe , waiting for Elliott to show up. We skipped going to the mtv thing, cause we didnt want to lose our place in line. The whole day was a blast.
Party was at work the next day. The girl in the first pic, holding the poster was the winner.
I never check the date on my camera, and 99% of the time, it's wrong! :chloestrain: :chloestrain: :chloestrain:

I have always thought this from the beginning.....Elliott needs to get play on URBAN RADIO. I have no idea why our "Funky White Boy" is not playing on stations that play Maxwell, Robin Thicke....especially with his music going back to "Old School" it just makes more sense! I hope Elliott promotes his next album to the right demographic!
