Post any opinions of past and present AI contestants, general thoughts about American Idol, etc...

I saw this review of Kris Allen in today's local paper - Kris was here in Minneapolis performing. Not a good review, but the critic rarely likes any of the idols. A couple years ago he was lukewarm about Elliott too - even though I remember him saying E has a good voice.

i agree with a comment posted somewhere near the bottom of the article. people should start letting go of this whole adam vs. kris thing. their season was over. it's not a contest anymore so i don't think comparisons between them are not by any means fair. though i suppose we will never see the end of those.

I don't think we'll ever see the end of comparisons either. Good lord, 4 years later and there are still people going on and on about Elliott & Taylor, 7 years on and they're still fighting over Clay & Ruben.

I found this year very disappointing and if things don't change, I don't think I'll be watching next year. I'm hoping that the survey that AI did brings about some major changes. IMO they need to clear different songs so we don't hear the same ones over and over, more up-to-date themes, a focus back on amazing vocals (instead of all the yada, yada, yada about "package artists") and judges who can actually critique the singing as opposed to commenting on the contestants' clothes and personalities.

I'd love to see the AI producers realize that what a lot of people are looking for is a show with good music and good singers/artists.

For me, it doesn't have to be a reality show that's a contest. How about a show that brings back past Idol contestants doing themes and covers, with a few original songs from past contestants who would benefit from the exposure?

I'd love to see the AI producers reinforce the success they've had finding true talent, by giving them a show to reinforce the AI brand.

AI has created its own problems for past contestants by glutting the market a bit, so why not do the equivalent of a mini-series of R&B, rock and various other themes whereby several contestants could return and participate?
