Title: Glee
Description: Great Musical Performances
Sk8888 - April 29, 2010 10:12 PM (GMT)
I didn't understand why Elliott's versions of "Home" and "A House is Not a Home," kept showing up yesterday on the Internet yesterday, until I watched the DVR playback of Glee. Both songs were performed.
You might not get into the storyline, but you've gotta listen to some of these performances:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Z6yS1dSEk&feature=relatedAlso, take a listen to the duet of "One Less Bell to Answer with a mash-up of "A House is Not a Home," in the middle. Kristin Chenowith.
The song "Beautiful," is.....just that!!

That combo of House is not a Home and One Less Bell was done that way before - I want to say Luther Vandross. It was interesting to me that I first learned these songs probably 35 years ago (Streisand) and still remembered all the lyrics. Why is that not true of music today - LOL...
I love Glee - because I love musicals and they all have great voices...

^ I know what you mean Linda.
When they started to sing "One Less Bell to Answer," I was singing along.
The lyrics/words are just THAT GOOD and touching.
I've never heard the Luther version before. I'll have to hunt that down.
What did you think of the character "Kurt's" version of "AHINAH" ?? It was sung beautifully. But when you listen to Elliott's shortened version, the words have so much more meaning to me.

I googled Elliott's AHINAH on Tuesday night after I watched Glee. My sister hadn't remembered that Elliott sang in on Idol, so I sent her the link. I wonder how many other people thought of Elliott when that song was being performed on Glee. This morning Kurt (Chris Colfer) was on Ellen - I didn't watch it closely, so am not sure why he was on. I really like musicals, and Glee seems like a really good show - I wish I had more time to watch it.

I loved that scene with Matthew Morrison and Kristin Chenoweth's duet! Like you, I sang along with them, too. And, of course, I thought of Elliott when Kurt sang AHINAH. Who doesn't? lol
I really love this show! I never fail to watch it.

Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester is owning this show!! And she wasn't even hired to sing.
I wondered if I didn't hear a bit of Autotune on her music video performance of "Physical" with Olivia Newton-John?
Still loved it.
p.s. I want that sweater Kurt was wearing. Wow, it looked so furry and luscious.

Thanks for starting a Glee thread, Sk8888. I absolutely love this show! Jane Lynch surprised me with how well she sang in the Madonna epidsode. Last week's epi gave me chills, esp. Matthew Morrison and Kristen Chenoweth singing that Bacharach medley. I only remember The Fifth Dimension's version of "One Less Bell to Answer", but if you've never heard Luther's version of AHINAH, you've got to! There's a youtube version of Luther singing it at the NAACP awards from 1988 that just gave me chills.

^^ Hey thanks Chatty. I'll be catching up on DVR tonight. Can't wait to see what Sue's up to next.
Sk8888 - May 13, 2010 11:43 PM (GMT)
I cannot wait to see the episode next week with Neil Patrick Harris:
If you want to take a look at a preview of him singing "Dream On," scroll down to video "extras" on the official site:
http://www.fox.com/watch/glee/84748981001I am looking for a clip of Puck singing "The Lady is a Tramp," .....the official site isn't offering it on Itunes or anything. :>((

If you haven't watched Glee and think you might want to catch up, here's a link to the Pilot:

I found the audio and it's pretty good, but the performance put it over the top:

I agree! Love Jane Lynch! I used to hate Sue Sylvester, but now I like her. I think she's funny.
I watched that episode (Bad Reputation) five times, can you believe it? lol I'm a Gleek!

Oh man I am OBSESSED with this show! I don't even really watch AI anymore, it's completely lost its charm (never really was the same after I found my personal American Idol :yamini:).
One of my personal faves is from the first half of the season but I LOVE their take on Somebody to Love.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8ZSDPN3Ssc&feature=related Probably because not only is it one of my fave Queen songs but my favorite character, Artie, gets to sing the second verse and bridge and it brings to mind when Elliott sang it (doesn't hurt that his character kinda brings to mind Elliott in a wheelchair).

Can you say "recurring character," with regard to Neil Patrick Harris???
Just loved him, and the "Dream On" number was hilarious!

I just simply ♥ this show, and my daughter and I have a mom/daughter date every tuesday night to watch it;) She is seriously crushing on Mr. Shu!
ElliottisTrueBlue - May 25, 2010 12:41 PM (GMT)
So I can't stop listening to "Dream a little Dream." Love it! Now that's a song I could've easily heard Elliott sing during his run on AI.

Love, Love, LOVE this show! As do my girls, we watch it every week. The season finale had my youngest freaking out, b/c they lost, so she was so upset there wouldn't be anymore Glee. When it was revealed there would in fact be another year, she was screaming right along with the kids on the show, telling me, "MOMMA!! The get another year!!!!" So sweet =)
