When the piano started, I said "No, it can't be!" My neighbors must be wondering why I let out a whoop (belated cheer for Evan Lysacek?!?).

HighOnElliott - February 19, 2010 09:06 AM (GMT)
OMG! ITSLATE, Thank you sooo much for recording it. When I heard the piano at the beginning, I thought "it can't be, can it?" Then when I heard that beautiful sweet voice, I ran around the house screaming, and missed the second part of it! Hee Hee.........

The Universe gave me my wish. When I first heard "Free" back when the CD came out, I said that song was perfect for the Olympics. The Gods did indeed hear me. GOOOOO ELLIOTT!!!

I just watched the video from my phone. I got chills, can't image how those that actually saw must have felt.

Lu - February 19, 2010 12:57 PM (GMT)
Incredible. I think I've lost count of how many times I watched. Free is one of my all time favorite inspirtional songs and how perfect for the Olympics! I'm sure he'll tweet about it... can't wait to hear what he says! He'll be on top of the world! Maybe this is a sign of things to come with his new management?

I remember during the Summer Olympics when they used Cook's "Time of My Life", he didn't know anything and was so excited when he found out. His family told him about it I believe.

Oh, come on.I love Evan, and I'm glad he did so extremely well, but Plushy isn't douche-y.

There was no call for NBC to portray him as some kind of rotten gangster-boy. ... He came out of retirement partly because the Russian skating federation wanted him to. It is extremely sad for all of them, including Evgeny, to remember what they were in sports in the old days and to feel how they've fallen and not know, with their many economic and governmental troubles, how they'll ever reclaim anything of their great tradition, now that they've spent so long with their infrastructure in utter disrepair, among other things. And that's especially true in figure skating, where Russia has produced so many many world treasures over the years. Plushenko was carrying the burden of a struggling nation on his shoulders, and that's not an easy thing to deal with. Like EL, he's a great athlete and, to my mind, deserves to be treated that way instead of as some kind of low-class James-Bond-movie villain.

But on to the real topic at hand -- *So* fantastic to hear Elliott! Best news I've heard in a long long time! (and I've always liked "Free," too!)
