Title: PBS Show American Masters

I just saw this show on PBS' American Masters, about Tony Bennett. In the 70's he almost went broke. His record company and his manager dropped him. Pop music was all the rage.

His son, resurrected his career by booking him on MTV, and setting up duets with gifted singers to record some old classics which have won numerous Grammies.

And guess what? His other son runs a recording studio in New Jersey with a special rate for Indie's.

Other artists featured on American Masters include Sam Cooke, and soon a show featuring Marvin Gaye's career. Very well done. Lots of great music to boot.

Sounds so interesting - Elliott reminds me a bit of Tony Bennett, because of the joy he expresses when performing - and they're both so dang likable!

I am loving this series..Sam Cooke was a very interesting guy..he too reinvented his career from Gospel to R&B-Pop.
Shelley that is very interesting about Tony Bennetts sons and the recording studio they are running..thanks for the post

^ The show on Sam Cooke a couple weeks back was so good. And I will be TIVOing the upcoming feature on Marvin Gaye. Can't wait!!

And yes, Momster, both Elliott and Tony Bennett seem so happy when they perform. It would seem they operate on a similar wave length.
