Elliott Yamin Performs for Troops on Second USO Tour

Season 5 finalist and R&B sensation Elliott Yamin will venture to Guam and Japan on his second USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour, October 8 -18. The soulful vocalist will visit military bases, perform four free concerts for troops and their families, as well as sign autographs.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Elliott traveled to Germany, Belgium, and the UK on his first USO tour in February 2008, visiting and entertaining more than 2,000 troops serving in the region. He is a huge supporter of the U.S. military. “I write a lot of the songs I perform, but finding the words to describe my gratitude to our men and women in uniform seems impossible,” said Elliott. “Working with the USO is the best way for me to let troops know how much I appreciate their service.”

Since appearing on American Idol, Elliott has released two solo albums. His self-titled album debuted at the number three spot on Billboard’s Top 200 list. His first release “Wait For You,” was a Top 5, platinum-certified smash. Two years in the making, Elliott’s sophomore album, Fight for Love, was released earlier this year and included hit singles “Can’t Keep on Loving You” and the title track “Fight for Love.”

In times of peace and war, the USO consistently delivers its special brand of entertainment and comfort to service men and women around the world. In 2008, celebrity entertainers traveled to 27 countries and 23 states, entertaining more than 236,000 troops and their families.

HI Yall, Everytime I read this American Idol News Elliott Yamin Performs for Troops on second USO Tour it makes me very proud of our one and only Funky White Boy Elliott!!!! Elliott said "Working with the USO is the best way for me to let Troops know how much I appreciate their service"! I can't think of a more brillant Event Elliott can do then the USO!!!!

Yep, that's what I was thinking when I said it was a recruiting tool. I see the little USO symbol on the promo.

He sounded really excited on his Facebook page last night....he couldn't wait to leave with his "boys".

The "eagle" has landed.... Elliott tweeted a little while ago that they are in Guam.

I'm getting a little confused because of the time difference, so I think it's already the 9th, and some peeps are tweeting song requests for his concert "tonight."

Weather reports show humidity at 100% and winds gusting. I'll bet that was one bumpy flight they had with all of the extreme weather in that area of the world right now.

Hope it's a great concert - fun for all and that nobody blows away. We're suppose to have torrential downpours locally - sounds like the weather is exciting all around - being on a plane was probably a challenge - my husband was traveling today thru Chicago and got held up there for quite awhile.
