As I stated in other threads, at this early stage for CKOLY on AC radio, I have been extremely fortunate to have a local station which put it into rotation almost immediately. Since the station isn't monitored, I have tried to monitor it by either listening or recording for long periods of time (okay, since I figured out how to easily record it even while I'm sleeping, I've been monitoring it all day for the past few days :) ). The playlist is similar to what I've been seeing on the AC charts and the playlists of other AC stations.
Until now, about the only time I listened to any radio station for longer than an hour at a time was when I was on a long trip but even then I switched back and forth between the radio and the CD player frequently. The first thing I've learned is that AC radio is very different, in a good way, from pop radio. My station seems to have a maximum of three plays for any given song in a 24-hour period and there aren't many songs in this select group. CKOLY has been one of them since the first week of its release. To my surprise, I have found the overall experience to be very enjoyable as I just became interested in music again about 5 years ago and missed out on many songs and artists from the 80s and 90s. The songs have melodies and lyrics that make sense and are sung by singers who can actually sing.
It's one thing to hear an Elliott song sandwiched in between the hottest top 40 music and a totally different thing to be able to compare an Elliott song to current and not-so-current songs that fit into the AC format. My three favorite songs in maximum rotation are Falling for You by Colbie Caillat, Then by Brad Paisley, and (OF COURSE :) ) CKOLY. Brad is my other "favorite current artist" and I never thought I'd be hearing Brad and Elliott on the same station on the same day but I have every day this week. Listening to so many different artists and all of these different songs has confirmed what I have thought all along: Elliott is in a class of his own with the vocals. I think Then edges out CKOLY in the song category, but CKOYL is definitely near the top in the song category. I like Colbie and her songs because she's "bubbly."
I tend to lean toward being impatient, so I have to keep reminding myself that AC moves at a much slower pace than Top 40 and CKOLY is a great song that is destined to be a hit. In the meantime, I'm enjoying listening to it on my AC station instead of Top 40 station.

Can we stream your station?

It's a small, locally-owned station which is not monitored and does not stream. They have a web site:
http://www.kz943.com/They actually honor the online requests and announce when one of the songs that's not on the current playlist is being played because of an online request.
CKOLY is already in the "elite group" of songs being played and I don't see any need for additional requests.
It would be great if we could find similar stations in other locations, monitored or not, which are local to some of our members.
Yeah, just visited the link- it's pretty useful!!
