Title: American Idol Rewind
Description: Season 5
klo129 - August 12, 2009 01:33 PM (GMT)
Maybe we will finally get to see Elliott's full audition:

I haven't seen an official announcement, but in past years AI Rewind has started in late September. I hope they interviewed Elliott for the series.

HI Yall, I don't lnow why the first time around they didn't show Elliott's full audition, but I hope they show Elliott's full audition this time around? One of the best Funky White Boy's in American Idol History and they didn't show Elliotts full audition! Whats that all about!
yellin4yamin - August 14, 2009 01:14 PM (GMT)
so thrilled!! Still don't know why they don't sell the season's on DVD, especially with bonus footage, interviews, things we have yet to see...I know they would be huge! Same with SYTYCD...ugh!

I finally found the broadcast schedule:
http://www.ascentsyndication.com/_files/W/...ule_2009-10.pdf The season starts September 26 with the Chicago auditions. The Boston auditions air on October 24, and, of course, everything repeats multiple times. Top 3 doesn't air until May 8.

Finally something to look forward to also. Thanks Klo for the schedule. Now I'm seeing a Chris Daughtry special at the end of the run... hmmm I thought Taylor won that year.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of spin they put on the season through editing and new interviews. Do you think they will even mention Taylor LOL?

Finally, something on the official site:
http://www.americanidol.com/news/view/pid/1859 Elliott barely got a mention. Should I be worried?
Wow, they removed Paula's bio from the site!

I still kind of like to watch this.
But before the whole series started, I (misguidedly) hoped that they'd actually do it like more like a concert show, showing at least some of the best performances in full. They did this a little in the first couple of seasons, I think, but by the time they got to the fourth season it was really just snippets, surrounded by lots of usually boring commentary and, of course, tons of bad-audition footage.
And since the performances themselves are snippets to begin with, hearing only snippets of snippets is frustrating, for me, anyway.
I was hoping that Rewind would really let me enjoy some good performances of my favorites all over again. For instance, in the Season Four edition, they never seemed to play more than about 12 bars of any Bo performance, and he was the runner up, for heaven's sake. (I didn't see the whole season, but I don't remember a full Carrie performance either.) So I'm not expecting much more of this season. And with somebody like Elliott -- whose amazing musicianship is what you (or I, for me, for you) really crave to see -- that's too bad.
Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine why I want to watch a music show that never ever ever lets me listen to a full performance of even one third of a song.

I really enjoyed the first episode. Yeah, I could do without the bad auditions again, but I enjoyed the overview at the beginning. Everyone looks so different - Kat as a blond, Ace with short hair, Mandisa, and, of course, Elliott. Looking forward to Boston, then the semi-finals.

How many times a day does this come on?

It repeats next Friday night and a couple of times over the weekend on TV Guide channel and, I think it will repeat next Saturday night on Fox in some markets.
jamie50 - September 27, 2009 05:10 AM (GMT)
Watch it. It's fun and I really enjoyed the first ten minutes where the review all the auditions of the Top 12. The have recent interviews with Elliott and the rest of the crew. Everyone looks great and it's a feel good season because (unlike every other season of Idol), almost everyone is still doing what they love.
Still my favorite Idol season ever.

100% agree with you Yellin. I missed it too but will catch it on the rerun episode. IMHO Season 5 has definitely been the best season to date. I always find myself comparing each season to Season 5 and there hasn't been a season yet that can touch it.
onlyforelliott - October 2, 2009 08:37 PM (GMT)
Just a reminder for those who missed it last week. It will be on TVGuide Channel tonight (Friday) at 6 PM Central. It will be at other times too, but once I set my DVR for the one at 6, I didn't try to find the others.
klo129 - October 4, 2009 08:55 PM (GMT)
I really enjoyed this week's Greensboro auditions show. It was great to finally see Bucky's audition. I think I understand what Paula saw in him, although during the season, I couldn't understand how he made it to 8th place. His debut album is terrific, though.
I got very emotional at Kellie Pickler's reaction to getting the golden ticket to Hollywood. This tells me that I will be a complete mess during the Boston show LOL. I think the ability to pluck talented people from the "middle of nowhere" and give them a chance to change their lives is the reason I'm still hooked on this sometimes infuriating show after all these years.

Saw "E" and other finalists last night on American Idol Rewind. It brought back some great memories of Season 5.
