I can't believe the show would not have Paula come back. Randy and Paula should have equal salaries with Simon understandably making more, yet that's a big leap from 10 to 100 million for Simon. Maybe some deal will be worked out or maybe she doesn't really want to return. Think the balanced element, as in kindness, would be missed.

I agree... I will miss Paula, even if she is a bit loopy at times. Is that totally verified that Simon will be making 100 million annually? I thought I'd read somewhere that he said that figure wasn't true.... I am wondering now if this wasn't in the works all along. Bringing Kara in last year to pave the way for Paula's future exit? I hope Paula will be back.

I hope this doesn't come to be. Paula has her loopy moments, but her critique has much more substance than "it was a bit pitchy for me", "that was reallly hot", or "it was awright"...

I read the same thing saying she wouldn't be back. It will be like a band that has one member leaving, it just never is the same again.

HI Yall, From season 1 to now I grew with each season of American Idol and I grew to love each judge Randy, Paula and Simon! I can't see not having Paula on AI after all these seasons of watching her. I remember all the brillant things she said about our Funky White Boy Elliott! Elliott you move me this is what this compitition is all about you are an American Idol! You give me Goose Bumps! You are a Funky White Boy! I really don't care for Kara at all! I know they are bringing Kara back next season. OMG What will we do with out our Paula! I heard Elliott say some times he will hear his phone ring and look at the number, but not know the number and it will be Paula on the phone. It's great Paula remembers Elliott! I remember in the 1980's listening to all her music. "Cold Hearted Snake" "Rush, Rush" and all her other great hit songs! They played her alot on the Radio! Paula was very Radio Friendly! To take Paula of AI would be very wrong! If 19 Entrtainment takes off Paula I may never ever watch AI in the same way again!!! Paula has always been one of my favorite AI judges!!! Paula please don't leave AI!!! To keep Kara and not Paula whats that! Paula should come first since she has been on AI longer then Kara! :madashell: :pissesoff: :thatsucks:

I read somewhere that they only offered Paula a 10 million dollar contract and that was not enough. It was on the internet...so you never really know if it is true sometimes. I guess Ryan signed a 45 million dollar 3 year contract and Simon Cowell a 100 million 3 year contract. It didn't mention what Randy or Kara was offered. Way too much for any of them IMO. It's OBSCENE!!

to Simon's credit though, he did lobby for paula to stay. i think i read several months ago though (before this season even started) that this last season was gong to be paual's, well, last. the reason that was hinted then was because of one supposed auditioner that was a stalker of paula's and thus, made the situtation uncomfortable for her.

she allegedly begged the producers to not air the episode or something but the show aired it anyway and that ticked paula off and that's when apparently said she won't be coming back and thus, the introduction of kara as a supposed "fourth judge" so producers can test their response to another female judge.

oh well. while i've never given paula's and randy's critiques much credence, the show works because of their combined presence. it just won't be the same.

If this is true I will hate it. If Paula liked a contestant she really showed it. She saw that "special something" in our Elliott and showed him much love. You will be missed.

The show really needs someone to balance Simon's brutality. Neither Randy or Kara provide that. Going to hate to see how the contestants and the public cope this year without a sympathetic judge on board. Even if she didn't care for a performance you could always count on Paula to find something positive about it. Kind of makes you wonder about the conspiracy theory of "Kara was hired because TPTB want to get rid of Paula" that was floated around when a fourth judge was first mentioned.

And maybe even more important, Paula actually has been the one to recognize some of the major talents long before the others, because she always looks beyond the surface while the others, at least initially, tend to be focused on "the package." Kara is even worse that way than Simon. And Simon is bad enough in that regard to have remained quite negative on Kelly C for a long way into the process. I'm really not sure we would have had Clarkson, as well as some other standouts, without Paula.

I wish I could warm up to Kara but she just seems like a total phony baloney to me. Since I really can't get into useless suck-up Randy, now the only judge I'll like at all is Simon. Yikes.

Simon will probably now be the only judge that *Simon* likes too, come to think of it.

On AOL homepage tonight was an article about Paula leaving and a video of
Elliott singing "A Song for You" from his Idol performance. It was referring to Paula getting misty eyed when he sang. Sure makes me misty eyed and also those goosebumps that I get when listening to him sing. Still get those after 3 years....don't think they will ever stop. Love that boy.

Obviously E-train values Paula Abdul!! She always found something positive to say...I would hope the execs at AI can see her worth!!! Shame, shame!! Its just so SAD!! :protest:

Well some publicity for Elliott, but a real shame she is leaving. JMHO, but having Kara on last year, made me appreciate her a lot more. I'm gonna miss her.

If they offer enough money Paula will return and I can't blame the woman. Why should Simon be paid a significant amount more than the others?
