Title: Streaming MTV and VH1
Description: You can do it from my site
onlyforelliott - June 11, 2009 10:02 PM (GMT)
As an experiment in reviving my website, I used the embed codes provided by MTV and VH1 to feature these two players on my home page. I'll keep the link in my signature, which should act as a frequent reminder since I post frequently. :)
If this works, I would like to add some YouTube videos. So if you have uploaded a video to YouTube and want it on my homepage, please let me know.
I had a better post the first time I wrote this, but it got lost with a troublesome error message I seem to get from this site often.

Thanks, OFE. I did stream from your site yesterday while voting my arse off on VH1. Will do the same thing this week for this battle over F4L's ascendance to the PEAK, where it belongs!

Thank you O4E - I love it, it's so much easier to stream!

You are both welcome. I'm happy to help.
I added links to two different IHeartRadio players.
I've been streaming on VH1, MTVHits and IHeartRadio because each has its own degree of importance.
VH1 --The countdown of course and just being on the playlist. It's also more likely to be included in most cable packages.
MTVHits--For me, it's only available to digital subscribers but all it does 24/7 is play videos including the MTV Hits Playlist and playlists of various artists. FFL was played once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night on Friday.
IHeartRadio--owned and operated by Clear Channel. Need I say more? :)

I just finished a minor upgrade to my website by adding a link to a good summary on royalties and a link to the FMQB site. I was going to try to write a more detailed summary but the task is too daunting. The music industry is undergoing a revolution with the new law soon to go into effect for artist royalties from broadcast radio. Sales of physical CDs is in a sharp decline, almost a freefall. Online streaming is growing rapidly as broadcast radio is declining rapidly.
My main conclusion is that streaming online is one of the easiest, most efficient ways we can help Elliott. He not only receives royalties but each stream provides feedback on his popularity. In same cases, AOL in particular, it influences the Billboard charts, although in a small way currently.
The link to my site is in my signature.
Edited to add: I just love Happy Feet. It's on ABC Family tonight and I'm going to try to capture some of his dances so be looking for a dancing avatar in a day or two. :)

I posted this link in the VH1 voting thread yesterday when Elliott was in 19th place on the VH1 list of most popular videos:
http://www.vh1.com/artists/charts/top_videos.jhtmlGood news!! I just checked and in one day he has moved from 19 to 16!!! As with most ranking lists, there is no explanation of how the list is generated but I think it's most likely based on streaming.
There's also good news with MTV streaming. When I first posted about this 2 weeks ago, FFL had been available for a month and had 2400 views. When I checked today, the count was over 5700.

Being listed as one of the Summer "hunks" didn't hurt a bit.
Thanks for keeping track of this OFE.

I'm sure it didn't hurt. But I'm not convinced on just how much it helped. I guess it's sort of a chicken-egg thing. He made the "hunk" list because his video was getting a lot of streams. Hopefully the list is getting him more streams. I'm thankful that VH1 has him on that list but I think major credit for getting him there goes to his collective body of fans, especially those who have been streaming multiple times over a period of days and weeks.
So a big "Thank You" to all who have streamed the video.
