Title: elliott performance last night
Description: at hotel cafe?
Millie858 - May 12, 2009 02:47 PM (GMT)
I just checked twitter and saw that Blake said "At hotel cafe watching Eliot Yamin kill it. Got up for a minute, did a lil diddy. Hanging with @brandonrogersla Love this venue."
Just wondering why no one knew or maybe it was impromptu?
JackieB - May 12, 2009 03:12 PM (GMT)
It was Ely's birthday party. Lot's of people played a little bit.
PoorMe - May 12, 2009 07:17 PM (GMT)
Now I want to know what he killed.
Sk8888 - May 12, 2009 07:17 PM (GMT)
^^Yep on that.
But it wouldn't be unusual for Elliott to be performing in LA under the radar. When I lived in LA, I saw a ton of acts, including Aerosmith at the House of Blues after Midnight.
It gives the band a chance to practice in front of a local audience while hopefully being a music critic "free zone."

Ely also played keys on one of Elliott's recent appearances. I think that's Jamie Rise in Elliott's videos.

Artists who jammed in the party:
Elliott Yamin, Johnnie Newman, Lukas Rossi, Alisan Porter, Lou Dawson, Mandi Perkins, Stu Stone, Ferras, 11:11, Ely "The Creep" Rise, etc.

Ty, Ely has been playing with Elliott for a long time - Off the top of my head I can think of these:
Check your liner notes on This Christmas - he's on keys.
Also on keys on Movin' On, which he co-produced.
The Target version of FFL has a bonus song Good Outweigh The Bad, which he co-wrote and plays on.
Remember when Elliott was on Jimmy Kimmel? That's Ely on keys:

Here is something pretty amazing from the party, (even though Elliott isn't in it.) ;)
Don't miss part 2!

Actually, it doesn't say Ely co-wrote "Good Outweigh the Bad", it says, E. Yamin, J. Almos, O. Goldstein, B. McKee and E. Weisfeld. It does say Ely "The Creep" Rise on keys though :)
I remember Ely with Elliott on Ellen and Regis & Kelly as well.

Actually Harley, Ely performs under "Rise" but his last name is Weisfeld. Trust me - he co-wrote the song.

I could have sworn that was Ely sitting at the keys back behind Ollie. It sure looks like him. :)

I remember Aaron being on keys that day, but I'll watch it again. Maybe that was the day he had both guys on keys.
I couldn't see him very clearly, but there is definately a second keyboardist and it sure sounds like Ely at around 2:30 into the clip. Must be him. I have them all on my DVR and I haven't watched them on the TV forever, but this has made me want to watch all those old performances again.

Thanks, Ty, for asking the question about Ely. I knew that name sounded familiar, but I'd forgotten who he was. Plus, your inquiry led to me seeing some footage of Elliott that I'd never seen before.
JackieB, thanks for including those links.

I think Ely was involved with Find A Way also, maybe a co-writer?

I see that kendrajadexxx has more videos up from that night. A couple of them are Alisan Porter. She's the girl that Elliott mentioned in an interview who is a mutual friend of him and Adam Lambert's.
She played the little girl in the movie Curly Sue. Does anyone remember that movie? I watched it not too long ago...again. She's all grown up. She also has an amazing voice. There are videos of her with Adam doing theater too.

I saw that Blake Twittered that and immediately wanted to come here and start this thread! Only Finals got in the way... so thanks for starting it! :D

I don't remember the name of the show but I really liked it. Dave Navarro was the host.

There were on 2 Rockstars, the first one was Rockstar:INXS (I liked Marty Casy) and Rockstar:Supernova (Tommy Lee was involved). Brooke Burke was also a host. I don't know why they didn't do anymore.

Amen to that. Great songs, pretty sensible judging -- because *those* judges were going to have to perform and tour with their winner -- ; no crappy critiques on "it's song choice, dude!" because they had to fight over a limited number of good songs; and really fun performers. You frequently saw real growth among the performers on that show because I think the format kind of gave them a choice to grow -- of course they were by and large older than the AI kids.
Nice to see Lukas again. Love Lukas. He always reaches me with his singing -- love his kind of crazy. (even though I still worry about his throat -- as the judges did on the show. Loved how they kept trying to encourage him to sing more from his diaphragm -- that's a kind of useful comment that's sorely lacking on AI, in my opinion. )

It was fun looking back at all those videos. Thanks!
