I've had my computer for a few years now. It came w/itunes already on it. So today I decided to finally open I-tunes and see how it worked. So the music that I already had on the computer was automatically copied to my I-tunes Library. It's free to use the library right? I'm honestly lost on how this works. Also how do I get an Apple account? Can ya tell I have no clue? LOL! I plan to buy an I-pod soon too! Does anyone have any tips on good ones?

Yes, it's free to use the I-Tunes Library. As far as setting up an account, it's been awhile but from what I remember.. go into the I-Tunes Store. On the right-hand side under "quick Links" it says Account. You have to set up an account in order to purchase from I-Tunes. You can set up an account with an Apple ID name or even AOL name. I believe you give your credit card information then, also. Some people have I-Tunes gift cards which you can use, but I never had those. I've never had any problems and have downloaded quite a few tunes. If I can do it, believe me you can too. LOL Good Luck!

Thanks Chatty! I figured I should learn I-Tunes now before cd's totally get left in the dust LOL! Hopefully I'll firgure it out in time to get Elliott's new cd from there.(Yes, I know it's over 2 months away but I think it's going to take that long for me to figure it out LOL)

It seems a little intimidating at first, but it's really very easy and convenient once you get started. I don't think you'll have problems at all :)

I know I-Tunes is the "in" spot, but I personally find the Amazon downloads a lot easier.

really? I find Amazon is a much more difficult. Don't like shopping from there at all. Maybe it's just the way my computer works, though. It has trouble with some cites.

Can you purchase certain songs or do you have to purchase entire albums?

You can purchase 1 song from an album. You do not have to buy the entire album.

I think I am gonna have a lot of fun with this! How long does the battery last after the first charge? How many songs will it hold?

I have 15 songs in my itunes library that I want to move to my ipod but I can't figure out how to get them moved to my ipod. I know it isn't supposed to be this hard LOL! What am I doing wrong?

EYCDfan - I'm not sure but I think you can have up to 2,000 songs on your 8gb nano, but that's probably if you don't have video and pictures cuz they take up a lot of space. I don't know about getting the songs from your iTunes - but I strongly recommend going to an Apple store - they are unbelievably helpful there. good luck!

I have a PC with Windows. I haven't filled in all of the account info yet. Could that be why the songs that I already have in the library won't sync to the ipod? I plan on getting gift cards when I want to get music that way I have a limit for myself. LOL

ETA: Also, the first time i plugged it in there was never a screen that came up and asked me to name my ipod like all the videos show. Does that mean my ipod maybe defective. I bought 2(one for me the other for my sister) neither one had the inital on screen instructions that the books and videos say were supposed to happen.
