Description: Observations and suggestions

MOMster - February 5, 2009 08:33 PM (GMT)
As they relate to Elliott's official web site, www.officialelliottyamin.com, please post items for consideration by the web developers. Please be as specific as possible in each post.

- what kind of computer and operating system are you using (Windows XP, Mac OSX)
- what type of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari)
- what version is your browser (IE 7, FF 3.0.5, ...) - usually found at help/about
- which links do not work, on which page, and what is the error message you get
- suggestions for site content
- praise

Suggestion for CONTENT on the official site:

Shoot video and stills of Elliott as he promotes his new single and album at radio tours and other events, such as the Grammy Events. Then share that media with his fans by posting it on the official site. I love seeing that kind of content on artists' web sites.

Also add links for the official Shore Fire press release, and other items of interest.

I know that the site hasn't been up that long, but yesterday I did a Google search of Elliott Yamin and the site didn't even come on the first page. I even did Elliott Yamin Official and some other combinations and it didn't come up on the first page.

I realized that too. Although in Yahoo... you get it second. His Myspace, then officialelliottyamin? Etrain is third.

pulled this from the officialelliottyamin Coverage Compilation thread ...

I just wish the official site would work. All I've been getting since the launch is white screen with Wait For You playing in the background. I've talked to others who are experiencing the same thing. This looks bad.

Rutti, if you are using Internet Explorer, you may not have the most current version installed. That's what my problem was - and once it was installed - I had no more problems.

A new "touring" contact has been added to the official site. Nice! I think it would be great if links to the contacts' web sites were also added here.

not an issue or a suggestion... but I just love seeing the word "touring" :cheerleaders:

Happy to see the NBA appearance in the "news" section, but still the appearance section is totally blank.

I would also include the link to the Arizona paper carrying the story.

Hi Everyone!

On the audio player, I noticed that there are now controls to stop and start that I hadn't noticed before.

When I move my mouse cursor over the buttons, they now turn to a burgundy color.

The great thing is that you can STOP the officiallelliottyamin "player" so that you can listen to audio that is launched from other players in the news section.

I just ran into an odd problem. I had the officiate site open in one browser, and then I opened it in another browser while I still had the first one open. WFY was playing on both browsers, but I couldn't stop it from playing on the second browser unless I closed it out. I tried testing it several times again and I got different results - sometimes I was able to stop it on both browsers, sometimes only one, sometimes neither. (Another reason why I don't like it when music plays automatically when a site opens - I'd rather have the choice to turn it on or off.)

ETA: I'm on a Mac OSX 10.5.5, using Firefox 3.0.6 and Safari 3.1.2

also, to clarify - I was using two DIFFERENT browsers (Firefox and Safari) - not two instances of the same browser.

I don't see why you would want two sessions open at the same time, unless you want to be looking at two different areas of the website simultaneously, is that it?

ETA: Are you thinking that the "pause" function works in one browser and not another?

yes, on one but not the other. but sometimes it did work. I often have two browsers open for the same site for whatever reason, but yeah, looking at two areas of the same site is one reason!

:-)

Note to web developers: On the Contacts page, the email link for Michael Goldberg, Three Ring Projects, mgoldberg@three-ring.com, brings up a "page load error" page.

Sort of funny, this isn't a website observation, but it could be when Elliott artwork gets posted there.

On my Mac, I see the words, "Safe Area," on Elliott's new artwork over on the Croshal site. I didn't see it on my other computer.

I think I'm behind the times, but I still like it when the actual name of the month is spelled out when referring to a date.

I'm like a kid counting on my fingers when a date is referred to numerically.

No big deal, I'll figure it out eventually, just wondering if that's the norm now?
