Title: American Music Awards
AvivaDove - November 24, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
I missed the first hour. What did I miss?
So far I'm very critical. What's up with Miley Cyrus? I liked her as bubble gum Hannah Montana. She's lousy as herself. Mariah screeched. Taylor Swift beat Carrie Underwood? Taylor Swift isn't such a great singer. I'm not fond of her eye make up either. What the heck was Rihanna wearing? Alicia Keys had on an unflattering outfit too. Cold Play was off.
David Archuletta looked cute.

David Cook killed during the Red Carpet Live Show. He sang Light On. He also introduced Taylor Swift.
I loved Pink. She was awesome.

Thanks Harley. I'll look for it on youtube.
I'm just cranky because Elliott wasn't up there singing. Next year, I know he'll be on there.
Jordan looked preety. What award did she win?
Jonas Brothers winning was no surprise.
Beyonce didn't impress me.

Stand/outs thus far . . Pink, & Daughtry - oh, yeah he's not sung yet!! He will won't he?!?
Congrats to Chris Brown, homeboy, too!!!

The Jonas Brothers were cute with great moves and wholesome personalities and all that, but they just can't sing live!
Then there was the Pussycat Dolls. They can't sing or dance. It was weird having them follow the Jonas Brothers.
All of this junk just shows how great Elliott is
harleywoman - November 24, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
Actually, I love the Pussycat Dolls.

Independent music is a world all it's own! Not so much mainstream & hype. It's the thread that holds all other music together!!
Eyess2NKiss - November 24, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
I'm kinda glad it's a sort of ''diva'' show!! Begun by none better than Christina Aguilera!! I like Rhianna, too!! Big voice!!
Eyess2NKiss - November 24, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
Yay Daughtry!!!
Yay Chris B!!!
harleywoman - November 24, 2008 03:57 AM (GMT)
Sarah and Pink, OMG, that was beautiful.
Eyess2NKiss - November 24, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
Anything Pink, for sure!! She makes it happen!! I agree, what a combo!!
Jelliott - November 24, 2008 04:54 AM (GMT)
i think that was the first award show that i actually sat there and watched the whole thing...I enjoyed the whole thing
my predictions for who would win were all right until that whole chris brown thing...i think i was as surprised as he was...that was weird...i mean i love chris but he didnt really do much compared to everyone else
AvivaDove - November 24, 2008 11:36 AM (GMT)
Sarah and Pink were great.
Congratulations to Daughtry. I thought it was rude of Motley Crue to hog Chris and his band's spotlight.
The ending made the show great. Alicia is brilliant. I just loved the trio with Queen Latifa and opera singer Cathleen Battle.

I agree 100%. When I heard Pink I was like, uh, IDK if this will work lol. But their voices melted beautifully together. It was a wonderful duet and highlight of this program, IMHO.

I didn't realize so many of the songs that I liked as a child in the 80's/early 90's were Annie lennox songs! i really miss good music, or at least having a plethora of on mainstream radio :(.....
Rihanna is definitely a star and im glad that shes done so well crossing over, but her live perfomances always leave me dissappointed. Above average singing doesnt seem to be a criteria for being a female pop star anymore though, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised, lol
I love Alicia Keys, but I wasnt a fan of the Superwoman mash up with Queen Latifah and the opera lady.
Beyonce has turned booty shaking into an artform, lol..... I'm not a huge fan of her music (I'll youtube her every now & then and even let out an "oooooh!" before rushing to the middle of the dance floor at the occasional wedding reception when the DJ spins Get Me Bodied) but she always entertains. I don't think there is any female artist in the industry right now that gives a full perfomance (dancing and singing, not millie vanillie-ing) like she does, so I gotta give her her props.
All in all, I think Pink had the best performances of the night . She killed Sober and her harmony with Sarah was like honey. Her perfomances are the reason i havent erased the AMA's off my DVR yet.
Were there any male performances besides coldplay? I cant think of any that stood out....
Linda4Elliott - December 4, 2008 09:44 PM (GMT)
who's Sarah?
I am so out of the loop of popular music. I haven't listened to the radio since WFY.
