Title: Eli Stone - Wonderful New Series
midge - June 28, 2008 03:46 PM (GMT)
I don't think I've seen anything about this new series on the board. It came out on ABC last winter for 13 episodes and has been renewed for the fall. ABC is replaying the pilot episode tonight @ 10:00 (I'm hoping they are going to show all 13 episodes).
The show has touched me in a way that no other show has managed to do. It has made me laugh out loud, cry tears of joy and sorrow. George Michael and his music play an integral part of the storyline. Some of the stories could be considered a little controversial, but everything is handled with such grace. I've never seen a show like it and I have to say it is my all-time favourite. Its set in a law firm in San Francisco, but its not your typical law show. It has a Field of Dreams feel to it and a life-affirming, higher-power message. Like most new shows it takes a few episodes to get into all the characters and plot lines, but once it does its magic, so if you're not doing anything tonight give it a chance. The pilot is what hooked me in and the last few episodes are phenomenal.

I'll take a look, thanks!

I watched the first season, and loved it. The reason I started watching it, was because of George Michael...I love him. So then I started to really, really enjoy the show. Of course, the highlights for me are when he has his cameos in select episodes, but I found myself just really loving the show whether he appeared in that particular epi or not. It's very interesting & different than anything I've ever watched. :) The writing & acting are very good. I love the cast. I hope that more people start watching it...I guess they're rerunning the series this summer? I noticed that the pilot was on last night. I hope people give it a chance. :)

Should have posted yesterday. The new season started last night and once again a great, great thought-provoking show. I'm so happy that its getting a lot of buzz this year because of some of the guest stars (Sigourney Weaver, Katie Holmes and Seal) - anything to get more people to watch it.
IS ANYBODY ELSE WATCHING???????? Brwneydgirl??

Yay Yellin! If you get a chance, try to either buy or rent the first season DVD - I've watched it over and over and each time I find something new that I missed. I got to watch this season's premiere twice because the election here in Canada pre-empted the regular schedule and I found it was even more powerful the second time around.

I haven't watched yet this season. I do plan to, but Katie Holmes gives me a rash, so...I couldn't. (I used to love her on Dawson's Creek, but she just annoys me now that she's Mrs. Cruise.) I'm glad the show is getting more attention, though. There was a nice article about it in the local paper, so that is great! Glad people are watching & enjoying it. I remember last year signing a thing to keep the show around, so I better start watching! haha

Well for me I think that was one of the weakest shows they've done and that's a shame because there would have been quite a few people watching it who wouldn't normally. It seemed like it was a platform for Ms. Holmes. I've never seen her in anything before - just know her as Mrs. Cruise. Wasn't impressed with the acting or the singing and like you brwneydgirl, I found her annoying. Interesting about Nate finding their dad's journal - conflicted about it though. I don't think I want Eli to know what happens in his future - I know I wouldn't want to know what happens in mine. I hope they bury it somewhere.

I've loved this show from the very beginning. I think Jonny Lee Miller is wonderful in this role. I've seen him in a few other things, so I was already a fan. He's such a good actor.
I don't want to give away anything, but I really liked how they began this second season.

I love this show. But ABC has decided to cancel it along w/Pushing Daisy's and Dirty Sexy Money

I saw that yesterday too - I'm so disappointed. I'm finding that I'm watching less and less TV and I guess when the remaining shows are done it will be even less. I don't think ABC promoted this show enough and I also don't think they put it in a time slot that works for it. I bought the first season DVD and my 9 year old daughter came in when I was watching it, sat down next to me and didn't move for three hours. She has asked me many times to put on certain episodes. She was so mad at me when I told her she couldn't watch this year's shows because they were on way too late for her. A 8:00 or 9:00 pm slot would have worked much better and I also think that Dancing With the Stars was not a good lead-in for it.
My only hope is that perhaps another network will pick it up because of the critical acclaim it got.
BOO to ABC!
