Title: Etrain Family...presenting Claudette's Basket
Description: **All basket threads merged**
Nana2160 - May 11, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
I have a great idea!!! So many of us will be getting together at 3 different EEEEEEEEEvents next week...Let's all bring an item or two or three...to make up a nice "Sunshine" basket for Claudette. Having hip replacement surgery is pretty debilitating! Some item suggestions...
Body lotions, chewing gum, mints, hand held games, magazines, puzzle books, Blockbuster gift cards, dvd's Cd's, Healthy snacks, chap stick, body spray, candles, notepaper, Photos of Elliot with Etrain fans, playing cards, healthy snacks, fruit, anything small (Can fit in a basket) That she can enjoy while she is recovering.
Please PM me or leave a message IF you would be interested in participating in something fun for Our number 1 man's number 1 mom! I will hook up with Deniz or Brandon, who I am certain would be happy to deliver this heartfelt gift to her.

Great idea nana! I just pm'd you

Just a suggestion, you might want to find out if she can handle "scented" stuff like body lotions, candles, etc. I'm speaking from my own experience because everything I use is unscented because the scented stuff makes me sick.

Good point HW - but not to worry, I am the Mary Kay lady and although I have both in my inventory, I always give unscented if I don't know different. I will cover that one...

You're smart. Some things bother me more than others. I think I donate something "harley". How original is that?

Another helpful hint about chewing gum. Don't know if Claudette's teeth are all "home grown" or not, but speaking as someone who has partial dentures, might need to get the stick-free sort of gum. The only brand I know of is Freedent (made by Wrigley).
Nana2160 - May 11, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
You guys are all the best...
I just threw out some ideas and you are jumping on the E Wagon to make this awesome! Anyone from out of town that may want to send cards or something...Let me hook up with Deniz at copycat and maybe she would be willing to receive them...Just be sure to designate on package
"Claudettes Sunshine Basket" I will go to Michael's in search of a nice basket!
Hey Brandon and/or Deniz...does Claudette have any hobbies? Knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, ????????????? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, does she have any allergies we should know about?
Another few ideas would be books, playing cards, puzzles, hand mirror, comb, brush...there are numerous ideas.
I feel so much like I have adopted a whole family here...I love you guys!

That is such a nice and thoughtful idea Nana- I will bring something to the concert. Let me know if she knits or crochets. I have some nice yarns. I can also get a word find book. When we find out on the scents- I have some nice handmade soap that is lovely.
Can't wait for next week!

Has anyone picked up "stuff" for Claudette's sunshine basket? I did get a basket over the weekend...selected a larger one...that will also be useful for her around the house (Also, wanted one BIG enough for everything)
I picked up a few little inspirational magnets, some note cards, eyeglass cleaners (from Lenscrafters) a small clamp on book light, a little set with an address book, pencil holder, pencils, and a little note pad...Keep coming up with ideas, but don't have the funds to buy everything I would like to buy...What have some of you gotten? I am trying to get a nice variety.
Some more ideas...A deck of cards, manicure set, mirrior, a summer night gown, slipper socks, jigsaw puzzles, hand held games (poker, Yatzee, hangman)
What does everyone think about bringing or even sending a photo or two of yourself with Elliott, Scott and/or Claudette? We could make up a member "photo album" Maybe write a little note about your encounter with them. I'm not very creative in making a scrapbook style book for her...Maybe someone here would be interested in compiling a book for her...Anyone up for the task? I will do it...But it will be rather basic.

With the Norva concert "postponed" I will be unable to get gifts from those of you who were planning to bring them to Kelly's tomorrow...
I have gotten several items, a few people did give me $$$$$ to buy stuff. IF you want to mail something to me...send me a PM and I would be happy to forward you my mailing address. I do want to get it finished the first part of this week, I plan to meet up with Brandon oneday so that he can deliver it to her.
:urock:
I will TRY to put a picture of the "finished" basket...IF I can figure out HOW. I have mastered photo's on myspace...so hopefully I will be able to figure it out. :getwellsoon: :thoughts:
So Far I have...a few puzzle books, lotions, a candle, mirrior, books, coffee mug, a drink bottle with a freezer tube in the center to keep things cold, carmax lip balm, a few inspirational magnets, a hebrew CD, chex mix, extra gum, weekly pill container, antibacteria wipes, Etrain name badge from Gigi, mints, Eyeglass cleaner, Harleywoman sent an adorable "Harley" stuffed animal, address book, note paper, Mechanical pencills, deck of cards, Bath & Body works lotion and antibacteria soap, a wooden back scratcher, a magazine, Sodoku book, mom photo album, I know I am forgetting stuff...trying to go off my mind...:wow:
A few ideas that I don't have...DVD's or a Gift card to Blockbuster to rent some movies, a nice night gown...I saw one today that was just a "Night shirt" that said on the front...Doggone Best Mom" (I have just spent my limit...so, I just can't do anymore) Jigsaw puzzles, Hand held games...Poker, Yatzee, solitaire, a Chicken Soup "Book" a book of stamps, slipper socks, or some little slip on slippers, A couchie pillow neck ring/pillow, A fanny pack...she can wear around her waist while on crutches/walker. :grouphug:
Well...Time is of the essence...Please PM me or contact me IF you want to participate...Cards are also welcome...
Bless all of you and I am extremely disappointed about the Norva cocert...I only pray everything is OK.

Hey Teresa,
I had stuff in the car for you on Friday, but didn't get a chance to give it to you. I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for New York to see Elliott :elliottcap: so I guess my contribution will have to go in another gift another time - sorry we didn't get it together. Thanks for doing this for Claudette.
Nana2160 - May 24, 2007 10:54 AM (GMT)
Sorry for any confusion...Nancy & I talked last night and decided to wait until next week to get the Sunshine Basket to Claudette. For those of you who have PM'd me...I will send you my address. Please go ahead and send it right out, as Monday is a holiday and the mail won't run.
We have alot of nice things to give her and we will be taking it to a local florist for them to organize and fix it up professionally. If there is anyone still interested in contributing...send me a PM and we can make arrangements to either meet or mail it.
Just to let everyone know...we will post a photo of the "finished product" so everyone can see our gift to her...
P.S. Brandon we need your help getting this to Claudette...Please PM me!!!
Thank you to EVERYONE who has contributed!!!
You are a wonderful group of people...Nana2160
hoome3 - May 25, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
Nana,
Thanks, and I PM'ed you back. Sounds like the basket is going to be really nice!
Nana2160 - May 26, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
The basket over floweth...I have received many nice things from several Etrainers! I must confess...I have bought and bought and bought stuff myself.
I totally enjoy doing things like this for people (Especially people I care about) A few people have sent me checks and have sent money via paypal, so then I venture out to buy stuff and exceed my donated budget...BUT, it has been fun and I can only pray that Claudette will enjoy it.
A few people have mailed stuff out...so with the holiday on Monday, I don't expect them before Tuesday. Working 2 jobs and trying to connect with Brandon is my next mission to get it delivered!
I am planning to post a photo of the "Finished project" once it is complete...I will need some assistance from Nancy or Brandon...I haven't mastered uploading photos yet! I am learning though!
PM me IF you are still interested in contributing to this great gift for Claudette.
Bless all of you who have contributed!

We probably won't hook up with Brandon til mid week...Etrainers are still sending "stuff"...If you hear of anyone still interested, have them PM me. I want EVERYONE to have the opportunity to contribute! It is going to be a nice size basket full and I have truly been enjoying putting it all together!
It has been a personal labor of love...(Claudette and I have both experienced several simular trials and tribulations as single parents raising sons) I am certain Claudette will enjoy a little "Etrain" Sunshine!!!It has been a heartfelt pleasure to do it!

YOU HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB. THANKS SO MUCH FOR GETTING THIS TOGETHER FOR CLAUDETTE. HAS ANYONE HEARD HOW CLAUDETTE IS DOING? I AM ASSUMING THAT SHE IS OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AND AT HOME RECUPERATING. I PRAY THAT SHE WILL BE BLESSED WITH GOOD HEALTH FROM NOW ON. SHE DESERVES IT.
THANKS AGAIN,
GGMA6

Same here...Wish I had more time to chat...But we were alittle busy!
You need to come and join us at some of our Etrain gatherings...Everyone you will ever meet, is as kind and gracious as Elliott. He has brought many strangers together, who all share in the same love for him...None of us would have ever met, had it not been for our equal admiration for our boy!
I am proud to be riding on the "Etrain" for life!
Nana2160 - May 29, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
Due to the holiday...we decided to wait until this Thurs. to take Claudette's basket to be wrapped. Please post or PM me IF you have mailed something. I have a nice basket full and am sure she will love it!
I do plan to post a photo of it after she receives it as we never know when she may be lurking...
Thank you once again to EVERYONE who has contributed to our ETRAIN basket of "Sunshine" for Mama Yamin!!!

This is an incredibly awesome that you are doing for Claudette.
Question. Did someone make a DVD of Elliott's concert performances for Claudette since she has not been able to make it to any of his concerts so far? I'm sure that she would love it. I have no tech skills and a lousy computer so I couldn't. Just curious.

Unfortunately, that is onething we do not have. I am VERY technically challenged, but that would have been something nice...I don't know IF there is anyone local that can make one before tomorrow. If not...I'm sure we can get it to her IF someone wants to do it.
Thank for everyones support!

I would personally like to thank each and everyone of you who contributed to this special project. It turned out to be bigger and better than I ever anticipated.
If Claudette feels up to it...Brandon will try to post some photo's of Claudette

I also wish I had gotten in on this...I did see about this a few days ago, but it was too late to mail anything. Is there a place, (address) that we could send something? A card, or a gift...

Awww, that is so nice! Great job, Nana. :)
farmgirl59 - June 1, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
Great Job, Nana! You are one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met, and I feel very blessed to have met you last year! Hopefully, I will get to participate the next time. We're getting ready to start building our log home next month, and I have been going in a million different directions, so I don't get to spend as much time on the board, as I would like! Claudette is going to love it! Super job everyone!
realitymom - June 1, 2007 05:07 AM (GMT)
WOW!! Great job ya'll!! :grouphug: :awe:
TxRangerette - June 1, 2007 06:44 AM (GMT)
Nana2160, you rock!! Like Farmgirl said, it's a blessing to have met you in person! You're thoughtful, no doubt!! You offered to pick me up at the airport last year in Richmond without any hesitation....we were just cyber friends, so to speak...but you went out of your way to make me feel so welcomed during my stay!! Mama Yamin would truly be touched with this wonderful gesture from you and all the Etrainers who contributed. I'm also glad Brandon got hold of you or vice versa...lol, I made sure he knew of, or read this thread!!

Theresa, the basket looks great! I know that you have a lot to do on top of handling this gift from all of us. Claudette will just love it and I thank you so much for doing all of the work on this. You now need a very deserved vacation.
