Chris Slighs Blog

After dinner we came back to the hotel and we hung out in Phil's room. We were going to go hang out with Melinda, so Chris decided to wash his face. As he was washing his face, Phil and I got into a huge discussion (i.e., argument) over the state of the music business. He really believes if someone makes a great record they can sell 15 or 20 million in the U.S. I contend that the days of diamond records (10 million) are over. We argued back and forth the reasons why we both held to our beliefs. Of course, my beliefs are so much more grounded in reality (kidding, of course). Anyway, after about 30 minutes of discussion we looked up and realized, well, that it had been 30 minutes. So, I yelled to Chris in the bathroom, "Chris, what the freak, dude?"

The bathroom door opens up. "Shut up! I'm getting ready!"

"Dude, how in the world has it taken you 30 minutes to wash your face?"

Long pause. "Well, I got to washing my face and just decided to take a shower." Pause. "And I shaved."

We laughed really hard. For some reason it was really hilarious to think about him sitting there washing his face and the logic it took to say, "why don't I just take a shower...my face is already wet - that's like 6% of my body. Might as well get the rest of it."

Sanjaya is going home to Seattle

Honestly, I like the kid. I actually feel kind of bad for him. I have a feeling the next week or so is going to be a tough thing...he has been shielded, from what I understand, from the press - now he has to face them. Literally every interview I did over the first 2 weeks of being off the show asked me why the crap Sanjaya was still there...some in nicer ways than others. But it was obvious from everyone's interviews the vitriol that people feel for the kid. Hopefully the people will keep it nice and professional, but I have a feeling more than a few interviews could turn bad for him.

So, I ask you, the best fans in the world: if you are the praying type, say a short one for Sanjaya and the interviewers who will interview him. Pray that they will be kind and respectful. He's just a kid who made it further on American Idol than some people expected...he doesn't deserve the hatred he's gotten from pretty much the entire world. Even if you don't pray, if you're kind, you can still shoot one off for Sanjaya.

As much as i don't like chris, this is funny in a weird way

seriously guys read as much as you can of it. Idol showed him in the wrong light and he talks about it alot. I feel sorry for the way he was shown. He is really sweet and a christian guy. He is funny and loves everyone...he has some great things to say about all the idols, but mainly focuses on Gina, Phil, Blake, and Chris Rich.

I always liked Chris S. Thought he had the best male voice of any of them and should have gone much, much farther than he did. When I first heard him sing Kiss From a Rose during his initial audition, it made me come in from another room to see who was behind that voice. He has a very wry, dry sense of humor and most people mistook it for cockiness, but I did not.

I love Chris Slighs blog.. it shows what a cool, fun guy he is :)

Yea Chris and everything he said was really taking out of context. He was never cocky, thats just his personality. He seems like a really sweet guy. Im glad i found the blog. It just gives us all a bit more insight to the idols.

I read some of the blog. Yep, he does have a good sense of humor.

I read a lot of it. It's good stuff. Lots of interesting things in there. :)

I just read Chris' blog...I always liked Chris.

I agreed with a lot of his thoughts on the show, etc. (particularly the part about the contestants NOT BEING SHOWN ENOUGH!!).

Anyway, I hope Chris does well in the future. I think he will.

Chris's prediction on Elliott's sales: "Last year had 4 gold records (2 of them also went platinum) and I think 2 more will go gold (Bucky & Mandisa - I don't think Elliot's record will hit gold, but it may, too)."


He's deleted his last several posts now, I guess because he's decided not to talk about his fellow idols now that the tour's about to start, but they were interesting predictions for the relative success of season six. He is predicting two or three platinum-selling artists this season and up to six gold. He had predicted Jordin, Blake, Melinda, Chris Richardson, Phil, and Chris Sligh as either gold or platinum sellers, and notes that Phil will be signing with a country label and he'll be signing with a Christian label himself. He also predicts that Jordin will ultimately outsell not only Daughtry but also Carrie and Kelly C.

When did he say that about Elliott, i have only seen him mention Elliott once, and he misread what he said and apologized. I really hate it that he had to stop blogging because of stupid people who misquote adn misread everything he says, it pisses me off. Just because some people didnt like him and had to spread stupid rumors about him, he stops his blog. I swear why do people have to ruin it for everyone else. I know which fanbase did it, and i know where they are from. I hate it that im in volved with the name of that fanbase even though i dont post on those boards. I really cant wait till September when Chris blogs again. But GIna has started Bloging so at least it give sme something to read.

What? But he always says he never talks about his fellow Idols..

haha I think I know which fanbase you're talking about, but I think you'd be surprised to learn how little they had to do with things... there are other fanbases that are actually angry at sligh and his blogs and have knowingly attacked him..

He thinks season six idols will be more successful than season five???(including your ownself for achieving gold is arrogant, keep that to yourself, Chris) Sorry to disagree, but I have to speak my mind. I didn't care for his attitude right from the start. And I know nothing about his blogs, because I had so little interest in this season. Haven't kept up with it at all. He always seemed to make jokes at the expense of others and tried to come across (imo) as more sly(no pun intended) than the other contestants. A little humlity goes a long way with me, and I never felt any from him.

I seriously don't think he said that (I certainly never saw that, and I check his blog *ahem* a little more frequently than I probably should)... That is the exact kind of thing he avoids saying for this exact reason: people would get angry. He tries to keep his blog a happy place.

I just started reading Sligh's blog and I'm sorry he's going to stop writing.
It made me more interested in his season. However, he's got sort of a delusional mind set about the future for him and his Season 6 fellow idols.

I don't want to be a creep but both Jordin and Blake are dropping off the Hot 100 like crazy. And the last figure I saw for Jordin's EP sales was 35,000.
That's a good measure of her initial fan base So platinum, I don't think so.

I really dont think he said that. He commented on his blog about how Idol portrayed him. They portrayed him that way and he is not that way. He tries to keep his blog a happy place as Elliottcat said.



I actually remember him commenting on how you cant compare this season and last. He said you cant really say if season 5 will be the best, because you have yet to see season 6. He talks highly about all them. He never talks about himself being sucessful. He said if he get an album out it will prolly only be in the 200,000 range. He thinks that some of the idols will be very sucessful this year.


I have to take up for him, because i read his blog everyday, i read his comments to people, he was always really sweet unless someone attacke dhim personallyl or one of the other idols. He is really sweet i joined a chris sligh thread and it has all the commenters from his blog on there they are all sweet.


i just wish AI would of shown the real idols this year instead of showing Sligh as a jerk and Blake has self absorbed, and Chris as a dick. excuse me for the langage im just sick of ppl puttin down this season idols when they never even took a chance to get to know them.

It was on his blog. A couple of days ago he was writing predictions about sales for his group, compared to last year's group; the fact the he and Phil would be signing, but wouldn't be with 19, etc. He's since deleted that blog post and a few others, I guess because he decided that he didn't want to say too much right now about the current finalists, with the tour coming up and official announcements not yet ready to be made.

I actually don't see that AI showed him as a jerk. This year, they barely showed anybody as anything, as far as I can tell.

I've been interested in his blog because it's one of the few that makes comments about music and issues opinions. Opinions about music interest me, and it seems to me he has as much right to his opinions as anybody else. It also does seem impossible to me that Elliott won't go gold (although I'd give it a better than 50 percent chance that he will), and also interesting that he thinks so highly of Mandisa's stuff, which I assume he's got a better sense of than I do, since I don't listen to Christian stations, and that he has a high opinion of Chris R based on Chris's original music, which I've never heard.

The only thing that seems totally unrealistic to me is the prediction about Jordin, but he's not the only one I've seen give a big prediction for her. I wonder if it's just the Idol winner hype, though, in that case.

yeah, that's what he said. He thinks his album will sell around 200,000 and he'll be very happy with that number. He said he doesn't think he's going to go gold/platinum...

I don't know how old Chris S is , but he's very naive. He's just not ready for the big league, he's going to get hurt with his attitude. Chris needs to be in the learning phase...and just take in as much as he can, and quit thinking he has knowledge that he really doesn't have.

Yeah.... Jordin outselling Carrie, and Kelly, as well as Daughtry? Yeah and I'm the Green Giant.

are you sure your on the right Chris blog cause there have been many fakes and he doesnt ever say contestant names unless someone asks him a specific question.

As I understand it came from someone there (dhealy2003, IIRC) who says they've been forum-friends with Sligh for a number of years (I first saw it at TWoP when someone brought it over).

IDF are the main ppl causeing trouble for him, he never came out and said it. But i have been there and seen people twist stuff around. All im saying is dont believe anything unless you saw it there first and CHris doesnt use peoples names. I just dont believe that he said any of that and he only has one blog, and he isnt goin to blog anymore because ppl twist what he says, and his friends heard he said stuff, and they where hurt by it, but when they went back and read it, they knew he didnt say it, it was just ppl twisting stuff.

Chris, has teased us all with offers and has never told us, what his offers are. He said he has some really cool things planned. He was worried about one of the big offers having to put off his recording. So i really dont believe he said any of it. seriously check and make sure you have the right blog. I check his blog, like 20 times a day, yes im OCD about it. But i check the blog and his comments.

I don't know why the guy would lie, even if he is on IDF. This one of the posts where he verifies what Chris said on the forum they're both on.

And that other forum pops right up in a Google search: you can see in this thread -- coincidentally, about AI5 sales predictions -- both dhealy2003 and Chris, who went by the name kindacrazy24. Interesting that, at late as October, he thought that Taylor would have "a pretty big single" and that his "debut will be the highest selling debut from an AI artist" (:blink: Seriously? In the face of the Carrie Underwhelm juggernaut, he'd predict that? I'm thinking if I want winning lotto numbers, Sligh is going to be way, way down on the list of people I would ask... :P).

IDF gives me the heeby jeebies. I've never seen a bigger group of liars and/or delusional people.
