Title: Blake Lewis
Description: some of who he is....
amandarhea - May 22, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
So everyone knows i like Blake by now, this happened not to long ago. Well i found out what kind of guy he is.
I was looking back today trying to figure out what ELliott did to get such a strong fan base. To me is was his compassion and caring of people, it made him real to me. Elliott is reallly big into chariy for JDRF and ADA. Well I found out that what BLake stands for is what I am fighting.
Blake's fan base is the blakergirls they have a website that sells merch, Blake asked them to donate money from those proceeds to the childrens cancer hospital of Seatle. Last year one of Blake's friends was dx with Lymphoma and a few months later another friend of Blake's and girlfriend of the guy was dx with lymphoma as well. I have been talking to Blake's friend (the girl Heather) about cancer and stuff, with no real mentions of Blake, she is really great and a fighter. But through some other of Blake's friends i learned he is very compassionate, and caring towards people. Rumor has it that he is about to learn about me and my fight with cancer, not something I asked anyone to do. I just talked to one of his friends about how great it is of them to donate 50% of the proceeds to the hospital, they read my story, and they know im tryin to go to a show to see Blake, but might not make it because it is soon after transplant. They told me they are telling Blake about me and about my fight with cancer, Im not doing this for attention at all. So please dont think or say that. BUt i was told at St. Jude's you have this cancer and its bad so use it. I mean i have to go through this crap i should be able to get something out of it right, so maybe i will get to meet my idol.
I cant compare him to ELliott cause its a different league, but Blake is a sweet guy who cares so if your on the fence of who to vote for take this in consideration and vote for Blake. He is great.
and if you want to make me happy VOTE FOR BLAKE.

I'm with you, Amanda. Blake seems like a sweet, loving guy. And his talent is special. Jordin is okay, but IMO she doesn't stand out...and she still has a LOT of work to do with her voice.
ElliottCat101 - May 22, 2007 06:04 AM (GMT)
I am 100% with you! Blake seems like an awesome guy and I really want him to win!
bonanza17 - May 22, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
:elliottcap: Aww he sounds like such a nice guy. I hope you get to meet him! You deserve it! I have voted for Blake over 8,000 times thus far and Im not about to stop! I will vote for 4 hours srtaight. Enjoy the finale everyone!

I want him to win, but at the same time, I think it will be better if he doesnt, then he wont be under the AI label for a year.

I agree, I really hope Blake wins. I love when he beatboxes, I always get up and jam. :rocker:

Blake is definitely my choice as well. He may not be the better singer, but he is a better performer and seems like such a nice, caring guy, just like Elliott!

Well to be honest, I really didn't care since Melinda went (I was her fan)... but I found this on Jo Jo's web site... and I really like it.
I think Blake has something new to bring to the table. He's a good writer, performer, and puts it all together well. I was comparing it to last years final 2, but (sorry Taylor fans) I also think he has it more together than Taylor.
So here's the link to a song pre Idol... Julie. I'm not crazy about rap, but I really like this mix.

I voted for Blake last night, too! Amazing talent. He definately will change the tide on Idol for diversity sake.
Did anyone else get the lines crossed last night?? I dialed one of Blake's # and got Jordin's message, urrgggggghhhhhhhh.

Again, why will it be "better" if he loses? He will still probably be signed like every previous 2nd place person has by Clive Davis.
He'll only be a winner if he convinces Clive like Carrie did to let him produce the way he can produce. Blake is a producer in his own right. He'll be fine if he doesn't let Clive screw up his mojo.
Oh and Amanda, that's cool about Blake. Ace is the same way as well about cancer patients. I really admire Ace for what he does as well.
Plus I put in some votes for Blake last night.

Win for Blake would restore ‘Idol’ as hitmaker
Show needs a pop star, and the Seattle beatboxer can be that star

Who can start a performance of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name" by channeling Michael Winslow? Who wears cool pants and hip, quasi-retro clothes? Who really is from Seattle and not a ringer flown in from Arizona to audition in the Northwest?
Who wasn't rejected by both "Star Search" and "American Juniors," the kid version of "American Idol"? Who isn't embarrassed to reveal their embarrassing alter-ego/character to 30 million people? Who avoided choking up while singing the nauseating ballad "This is My Now"?
Not Jordin Sparks.
The answer to all of those questions is Blake Lewis, and he's also the answer to one of "American Idol"'s most significant problems. While Carrie Underwood has become a country music star, the show hasn't had a winner who has become a mainstream, top-40 artist since first-season winner Kelly Clarkson.
The show that's often accused of being a karaoke contest needs something to re-legitimize it as a true hitmaker, and that's another commercially successful, hot adult contemporary pop star.
Blake Lewis is that pop star, and he will and should win for exactly the reason the judges pointed out during the finale: He's the better performer. He is a pop idol, not just a strong singer.
The final "American Idol 6" performance show began with what Simon Cowell called "the best individual performance of the night," which was Blake's take on Bon Jovi. He proved himself again to be more contemporary and edgier than Jordin, moving around the stage with ease.
In that song and in many others, Blake's beatboxing and inventive stylizing allowed him to truly interpret others' music and make songs his own, even while the other finalists were just doing pale imitations of the original versions. He may over-rely on beatboxing, but there's nothing wrong with sticking to what he does best.
Jordin may be able to out-sing Blake, but so could Melinda Doolittle, and where is she right now? Like it or not, America doesn't judge on singing alone, even though the judges tried to pretend that it does after Jordin performed her final song.
If Blake loses, it will be because of that last song. He struggled with the song that won the songwriting contest and will be the winner's first single, but other winners have suffered through similarly awful songs.
Plus, Blake doesn't appeal to viewers and voters who would actually buy an album full of badly written ballads that even Celine Dion wouldn't perform. His style — and he has a definite, developed style, while Jordin just has raw singing talent — makes his music stand out.
If America betrays him and he doesn't win, he'll be far more commercially successful than Jordin without being a complete sell-out, even if he does cite 311 as his greatest influence.
Blake is the finalist who can deliver on tour, on the radio, and in record stores without being a complete sell-out, manufactured, neutered Ken doll of a pop artist. For that, he should win.

though i dont like rap, Blake sounded so well on it. The song reminds me of what JT did when he first came out by himself.

amamda--Thanks for sharing all the info on Blake. I knew that AI was not giving us the full story on him. They never wanted him to win.

Hey Amanda! Run into you everywhere! Guess that's what happens when you are fans of the same contestants!!!!
Well, Idol is over for the year...but I think Blake will be amazing. Just like Elliott (but different...I don't want to catch Elliott beat boxing, or Blake singing sweet ballads, for that matter).
Save the beat boxer, save the world.

Eh...for the Blake fans...me included....from the looks of it, Blake's got a record deal. Billboard Magazine's Fred Bronson pretty much spilled the beans in his latest article saying that he knew where Jordin and Blake were headed label wise and both were headed to labels under Sony/BMG. It's been said on other threads that J-records will take control of Jordin's career. Good luck to her considering that company has been putting all of their eggs into the Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston combo. Trying to snatch good material from those three should be interesting.
As for Blake, rumor has it he's going to Zomba, the more pop/hip-hop side of Sony. Makes sense. It's the home of Timberlake, Usher, Pink, 311 and of course, Britney Spears. But it's also the label that let boybander Timberlake put a new spin on her version of hip/hop. I can easily concieve of them to let Blake have the reins a little more. J/Arista would have no idea what to do with him.
